First of all, thank you all for voting for me. Whether or not I made it to the next round I still win because I have such great friends and family! Thanks again! I'll keep you posted.
A week ago I got to go on the Seattle Internship Expedition. It was awesome. It was a great opportunity to see advertising in the real world and helped me narrow it down further as to what it is exactly that I want to do. Basically on the trip we go-go-go to different advertising agencies and meet the creative and art directors and they talk to us about their jobs and internship opportunities. It was also a great networking tool.
One marketing director even said after his presentation, "Are you somehow related to Scott Shipley?" WHAT?? I'm in the heart of Seattle on a Wednesday afternoon and someone recognizes me because of my brother? He said they worked together when they were students here at BYU-Idaho. That was pretty neat. So I'll be following up there as well. Oh the possibilities...
Ironically enough, for my public relations class, I was assigned (in a group of 4 of us) to create a campaign specifically for the Seattle Internship Expedition for the school. So while I was there I took pictures and video and was able to make a video for our campaign to help promote the expedition. Which is cool because I'm able to share my experience with you in this video as well. We presented the campaign full of posters and books and blah blah blah today to the Internship Office and the following video (which I stayed up to 4 am creating) was a great capper at the end of the presentation. Jaws were dropped from competing groups. Sometimes the jealousy of others can feel so good.
Here is the link to the YouTube page with the video I made for our group. Make sure you volume is up:
